Charley Harper: An Illustrated Life

Born in 1922, Charley Harper has been working in Cincinnati, Ohio for the last 50 years making the most creative and wondrous illustrations of animals (and everything else, for that matter). His style is extremely modernist, using lots of fun angles and shapes, while always having splashes of incredible colors.
At 83 he’s still creating art, working on piece for Cornell’s ornithology department and a piece about,

“an auto wreck from last year because the spring wildflowers are growing up around the steering wheel and the skull and so on. A cell phone will be in the skeletal hand [of the driver] and a house wren is building his nest in the skull. The house wren builds several nests in his attempt to attract females, so the name of this picture is Can You Hear Me Now?“

A totally amazing man. I can only hope to be a fraction as great as he is.
