When I hear the phrase “green architecture” I usually tend to wince a little bit, because it also brings to mind the word “green-washing”, or how people and businesses make things seem like their good for the environment. But when I see buildings like the one designed for fashion retailer Ann Demeulemeester, it brings a smile to my face.

The building was designed by Korean architects Mass Studies, who did an absolutely beautiful job. I’m not sure how environmentally this building is exactly, but I love the idea of having a house surrounded by plants. I could imagine the air smelling so much more fresh all the time. The plants don’t only grow on the outside of the building either, they are also continued through the space as well. The contrast between the bright green plants and the pale concrete and white walls is pretty amazing.

    this isn’t “green” at all. Green means: ecological and sustainable,..this is just vertical vegetation.
    Cost: €500/m²,..rediculous,..a perfect example of the sillyness of contemporary ‘architecture’….

  4. it is interesting but i think they should have done better design for inside of the building and the surfaces are only green not the space!
