I think this is really great. I love the design, and i love the idea of someone taking care of recycling my things for me, the best way possible.

If this became a reality i would really hope to see it on the european market as well.

To me, (a danish guy, with no possible acces to an iphone whatsoever) this is a really interresting alternative to an iphone.

Thanks for posting our work.

Jacob - to answer your question: The hardware returned to the manufacturer can continue to be reused until its obsolete. Once its unusable, the manufacturer is then responsible for disposal. So the heavy metals in the phone never end up in landfills.

The beauty of the service model is that you could keep your phone longer than 1 year if you wanted to, but most people are getting new phones every 6 months, so we also wanted to accomodate them.

Interesting concept... but it's seem wasteful to get new hardware every year.

What if the guts or components deemed most upgradeable were in a swappable package...

or.. the hardware was just that amazing that software updates would work.

An annual shipping, disassembly for recycling, etc. just seems a bit wasteful and extreme.

my 2 cents...
