Doug Aitken’s ‘Migration’
October 6, 2009 // Art + Los Angeles + Video

As I was walking down Santa Monica Blvd. last night to the School of Seven Bells show I passed by Doug Aitken’s giant video installation Migration at Regen Projects II. At first I had no idea what it was, all I could see were these huge beautiful images flashing on these big screens. After the show I made sure to cross the street and check out the scene.
Migration is a 24 minute, dual projection video which takes animals and puts them into human places, like motel rooms. Unfortunately for me, I didn’t see any of the animals in the several minutes I was standing there. But I did get some iPhone photos of the wall which aren’t the best, but definitely give you an idea of what it was like.
If you’re in Los Angeles you should definitely stop by and watch, I think I’ll be going back to see the video in it’s entirety. The exhibit will be up until October 17th. Check out more images under the cut.

The aesthetic in these shots you got reminds me of Buffalo ‘66. Love.
