International Year of Astronomy 2009 Posters by Simon Page

I came across some work by Simon Page after rooting around Dropular but when I saw these posters I was absolutely blown away. Simon started out doing these posters as a personal project but when the International Year of Astronomy folks saw them the decided to use them as promotional pieces.

He decided to go with more of a 60’s and 70’s vibe instead of going futuristic. They look to me like old Penguin book covers, concentrating on patterns and shapes instead of bling. The colors are also phenomenal and definitely lend to the vintage feeling of the posters.

  3. I love these posters.

    The geeky, science school-book look could be a bit of a risky strategy when trying to engage all ‘the citizens of the world’. These images are not going to appeal to the masses if that is indeed the organizers’ aim. I imagine the events will be predominantly filled with geeky, science school-book types.. oh and some graphic designers of course.
