Kitsune Noir Mixcast / No.028
Posted by Bobby Solomon • March 12, 2010 • Kitsune Noir Mixcast

First off I wanted to say sorry for not releasing a Mixcast last week. Like I’ve said here and there, real life got in the way, and I’m trying my hardest to stay consistent with everything. That said, this week’s Mixcast is a diverse mix of new and not-so-new stuff and I think you’ll like what you hear.
I’d also like to hear your suggestions on a theme next week in the comments. If you can, please refrain from asking for a mix full of covers. Yes I know everyone loves these but I find them kind of boring, sorry! Anyhow, suggest away.
Here’s this week’s tracklist:
Change of Time by Josh Ritter
Sun by Caribou
Finn Bikkjen! by Casiokids
Empire Ants by Gorillaz
Around Us by Jónsi
Go Outside by Cults
Round and Round by Ariel Pink’s Haunted Graffiti
Leftovers by Jarvis Cocker
Range Life by Pavement
I Have Nothing by Noah and the Whale
Bankrupt on Selling by Modest Mouse
Bobby

I really love the artwork for this one. Awesome tracks, too :)

It’s really great to have the mixcast back. As for the theme, I know it´s really lame but I like creating playlist of songs about a profession, being an architect I have a bunch of songs that remains me my career, perhaps you could do the same, as a designer of course

Indeed, the artwork on this one is definitely your dopest yet.
I say Mixcast No.29 begins, like all great things in life, with great food. Songs with food in the title. Food on the front cover. Food on the back cover. Food.

love the mix. i couldnt get any sleep last night so i think a good theme for next time would be ambient songs.

Trees? – or songs evocative of green places (fields, bowers, meadows, a terrarium)
Flight? Or journeys. Hmm.
Thank you for this week’s mixcast. (:

“Drowning” could be a nice theme

Hey, this mixcast is the best one so far. All the tracks suits each-other like a glove. Absolutely loved it. For the next theme you could do a Trip-Hop like mixcast with downtempo, chillout and loung tunes. Something like an after-party mix. Keep it on.

Songs to listen to while falling out of a plane.

As an Austinite, it would be really cool if you did a sxsw theme. Austin bands are rad, and usually become well known elsewhere. Some you might not have heard of are Diagonals, When Dinosaurs Ruled The Earth, White Denim, SPEAK, Neilyo, Frank Smith, The Octopus Project. It would be a great way to kick of the ridiculousness that is sxsw.

I forgot Balmorhea, they are really really good too.

As I look outside and see the sun, I think of spring. Maybe a mix of epic songs that build and expand, as we all burst out from our winter imposed caves and finally use the outdoors as more than just a means to get from here to there. Sorry if my perspective is a bit more mid-west.

I feel like I really “get” this mix which is cool.
How about songs to help you win a fist fight. Like those songs that play at the critical moment in a movie when it’s the “win or die” moment.
Or you know….maybe not.

bobby, your mixcasts/mixtapes (and your entire blog, really) are total dreamboats! My vote is for a “cue the montage music” theme.

I think it would be great to have a mixcast with songs that sum-up great movies, whether they were actually in the movie, or heavily inspired them.

Spring music? Thanks, as always, for a great mixcast.
Comment by Nick Fancher — March 14, 2010 #
Florida has had a lot of rainy days so I thought that might be a good theme… I love these mixcasts for when i have to draft designs for interior spaces for hours on end… sooo with that said, thank you.
