Yoann Lemoine
June 29, 2007 | Categories: Art / Design

From what I’ve been able to dig up, Yoann Lemoine is a well traveled man. He’s studied illustration in France, and screen printing in England. He now lives in New York where he seems to be doing commercials and short films. Such a busy guy!
He’s working on a new website right now, but you can still check out his old one as well to see more of his work. I’d also suggest visiting his Myspace to see even more of his great illustrations.

Kozyndan’s Tales of the Bunnyfish Show
June 28, 2007 | Categories: Art

Kozyndan’s Tales of the Bunnyfish show at Magic Pony opens tonight. I’m really glad to see them doing some more fine art-ish projects like the painting above. Their panoramic images were really cool, but you can’t do the same thing forever, so I’m glad that they’re moving past those.
I really wish I could go to the show, but Magic Pony is in Toronto, Canada. Sad times. But if you leave near there, the show starts at 7!

Wrestling at the Parking Lot Art Show
June 28, 2007 | Categories: Art / Films
Garrett, my best friend since the 3rd grade, was pretty bummed that he missed the wrestlers from the Parking Lot Art Show… So thankfully I was given some video of the wrestlers having at it, pretty fun stuff, so be sure to watch it!
Thanks to Christine for the video!

Spike Jonze’s Where The Wild Things Are!!!
June 28, 2007 | Categories: Films

Oh man oh man oh man!
The picture above is a first look at Spike Jonze’s adaptation of Where The Wild Things Are, Maurice Sendak’s classic children’s story. Just from this one shot, I want to see it so badly!
That little kid is so damn lucky!
The movie is also staring Catherine Keener, James Gandolfini, Angus Sampson, Benicio Del Toro, Forest Whitaker, Michelle Williams, Catherine O’Hara and Paul Dano. This sounded really bad to me at first, but damn… Spike Jonze is awesome anyway, so I guess there’s no real worry.

Bend the Void at MU
June 27, 2007 | Categories: Art / Design

Angelique over at MU was kind enough to e-mail some pictures of Bend the Void, Geoff McFetridge’s most recent show.
Man oh man it looks so rad! I want that giant pencil in my apartment, although it would probably fill the whole thing, easy. I need to fly to the Netherlands ASAP!
Check under the cuts for more pictures!

Parking Lot Art Show Photos

I went to the Parking Lot Art Show on Saturday and had a blast. Spent the day helping set up everything with Jeff. He put up all of the lights in all of the trucks, and I helped him hide the cords in between running a million errands. It was a really hot day as well, and even hotter when you’re inside a moving truck.
After we were done setting up we headed home and freshened up, taking showers and naps. Got back over to Sunset Junction around 7 or 7:30 and started mingling. There was free white wine, which was really excellent. Everybody was there and we had a great time.
I’ll let the pictures tell the rest of the story.

London Tube Ticket Redesign
June 26, 2007 | Categories: Blogs / Design / Life

Jim Richardson, writer of The Serif, a blog about design and art, is travelling through London and thought it would be fun to have readers redesign the underground tube tickets. I actually had a lot of fun doing this!
I went with a whole different look and shape for my card. I know it isn’t as feasible as the others, but I think it looks pretty damn classy!

Daring Fireball
June 26, 2007 | Categories: Blogs / Design / Technology

I am a big time Apple supporter, but more importantly, a big supporter of well designed objects. That goes hand in hand with Apple’s purpose when making new products, make things that work well with people. Normal people, not just certain people. This is the reason why the iPod is so phenomenal, it’s easy for anyone, anywhere, to use.
But Daring Fireball loves Apple even more than I do, and in turn, I love Daring Fireball. Written by John Gruber, Daring Fireball is the place to go to if you don’t want to visit some horribly designed, ad-riddled computer site. Jon lays out the information clean and simply, and without the bullshit.
In fact, John hates bullshit, especially people in the media who try to say, “Apple is this…” or “Apple products do that…”, when it’s just not true. Basically, he calls people on their bullshit, and you know what? Man oh man is he right. He brands many an Apple doubter with the ‘jackass stamp’, and with all the (well desrved) buzz about the iPhone, his stamp is whittling down quite quickly.
So if you like Apple products, computer stuff, or just a good laugh, definitely check out Daring Fireball.
