Robot Chicken Star Wars
Posted: June 22, 2007

The creators of the Adult Swim cartoon Robot Chicken have teamed up with George Lucas to create a ton of hysterical Star wars parody videos in the Robot Chicken style. The best is you can watch the whole thing online. It’s seriously amazing, but probably only because I’m a huge Star Wars nerd…
I heart Adult Swim & Robot Chicken & Star Wars 4 Life!

Rey Ortega

I’ve decided that today is just an illustration kind of day, so maybe I’ll have Illustration Fridays? Probably not, but I’ll throw it out there anyway…
The guy above, Rey Ortega, commented to tell me that he liked my all of my illustrators I put up, and what do you know? The dude himself is an awesome artist! The picture above is from his business card, with all of his contact info on the back of it. How rad is that?! And check out those colors… they make me very jealous, for the reason that I would never think of mixing them together.
Keep up the good work Rey!

Ugly Bogus

Okay, so posters don’t count as illustrations, they’re more design-y right? Right.
Ugly Bogus is Shane Long and Rob Stanton, who make really awesome posters for some really great bands and companies. Most of their posters are for sale too, just shoot ‘em an e-mail and let ‘em know what you want!

Betsy Walton

Jeff told me to stop posting so many illustrators, but I just can’t help myself! I always wanted to be an illustrator, and I can draw pretty well, but I like other’s people artwork way more than my own. Take for example, Betsy Walton, who lives in Portland, Oregon and likes to draw, paint, sew, and make prints. Her style is kinda’ abstract, but I like her line art, I think it’s pretty cute.

Anneka Tran / Kiwitown

I get really excited when I see illustrators sticking to traditional medias, like watercolor and acrylics. Sometimes I get sort of sick all the computer drawn bullshit. Anneka Tran from Liverpool is one such person who does amazing things with her art, creating all sorts of beautifully colored weirdness. But you know, the good kind of weird.

The Boy Fitz Hammond
Posted: June 21, 2007

I haven’t thought of this guy in a while, but he seems to still be kicking around… The Boy Fitz Hammond is an English illustrator who draws funny pictures of celebrities (most of the time with little balls hanging in their trousers) and a silly four line poem describing them. They are neither classy, nor particularly well done, just hysterical.

Chris Turnham

Chris Turnham is a truly fantastic illustrator from out of Seattle, Washington. He’s also half of the creative duo known as Fleet Street Scandal (which he runs with Kevin Dart, who’s also extremely amazing), where he has beautiful posters for sale, most of which are only $20. He’s also released a new a book called Fleet Street Scandal: A Collection.
Be sure to check these guys out, they’re truly great!

Avant Guardian 10
Posted: June 21, 2007

Submissions for Surface Magazine’s Avant Guardian photography contest is starting now. The contest is open to all emerging photographers who haven’t had a fashion shoot in a magazine with a print run over 100,000 copies. So that’s a whole lot of people!
My favorite finalist from last year was Jaime Chard, with they’re slick looking advertisements. Be sure to check out his site for all sorts of beautiful product shots as well.
