I feel pretty lame admitting this, but I just went to see the Takashi Murakami exhibit yesterday afternoon, the exhibit’s closing weekend. I had been meaning to see the show since it’s opening day, but couldn’t seem to find the time to get out there. Anyhow, I went, and I really liked it. The space at the Geffen Contemporary is pretty huge, so there was a lot of space to fill. I was slightly disappointed that the majority of his pieces were the size of elephants, I was hoping for some smaller and more intricate drawings as well.

My favorite parts of the show were the giant sculptures he had, and the advertisements for Inochi, a Pinochio type robot who starts feeling like a real boy. The ads are only about 20 seconds long, but are pretty funny and done extremely well.

1. We both live in L.A.? We should hang out! BTW, how were you able to take photos? Security damn near leaped on me when they caught me snapping pic in the xhibit.

   My favorite were the Kiki KaiKai cartoons. I think those are their names.

4. I just read about the Royal-T museum, out there in LA, which I guess has a lot of Murakami stuff. It sounds intriguing, but I’m a little unclear how much it’s a museum, and how much it’s just a store?
