Sunshine Sometime | A Kitsune Noir Mixtape
March 10, 2008 | Categories: Kitsune Noir Mixtape / Music

I’ve been working on this mix for about… 2 or 3 months now, and I’m so happy to finally finish it. It started out one way, and has ended up in a whole new form. I really just decided to go with what I know, and made a mix that’s overall folk influenced, but not necessarily consumed by it. Some of the songs are over 30 years old, some came out more recently, one song came out a month ago. Overall it’s a really laid back mix, good for driving home after a shitty day of work, when you need to unwind, or when you’re ready to go to bed. Personally, those are all my favorite times, haha…
This is also the first time anyone other than myself has heard it in it’s new form. I literally finished it at 1 AM this morning and decided that I should make a front and back cover and post it so I can feel like I’m finally finished. I’m really happy how it turned out, I feel like it came together really strongly. I hope you enjoy as much as I do.

P.S. I took the photo on the front cover exactly as you see it, there was no digital manipulation.

nice call on the langley schools

Eric: I love Langley Schools, so creepy/awesome.
Richard/Dario: The cover is a photo of the ground at the Exploratorium in San Francisco. There was a giant rainbow sunburst coming through one of the windows in the ceiling.
Everyone else: Thank you thank you thank you.

No way! How on earth did you get the front cover to look like that? I was studying it, and thinking how I could do something like it with gradients etc… amazing shot!

Thanks for that. Great ambience for Monday morning doldrums. Next time you do this, consider putting a plain-text track listing in the notes meta.

Joe: I’ll paste one under a cut when I get home tonight. My brain at 1 AM is not the sharpest, haha

haha it’s just one mp3!! It’s nice that you try to keep the authenticity of a real mixtape with this project :)

Nice mix. Just finished one a couple weeks ago which contained another of the Langley School’s renditions, “Space Oddity”. They always seem to pull a mix together, those Langley kids:)

Are you sure you didn’t use a rainbow gradient set to screen transparency over a metal work surface?

i just have to tell you again - how much i love your blog! i don’t look on it too often, ’cause i won’t get anything done! i told diana mulvihill about it and she told me she’s your friend! this sprawling suburb, posed as a city, known as LA, can be very small at times… couldn’t find a place to comment there - but L-O-V-E your desktop wallpaper project. now to decide which one to upload…
