Last Week In Music

Quarantined by Atlas Sound

January by Headlights

Behind The Sea by Panic at the Disco

Last Week in Music was a gooooood week, lots of fun new things headed my way!
First up was Atlas Sound, the side-project of Deerhunter lead singer, Bradford James Cox. Atlas Sound ends up sounding nothing at all like Deerhunter, which is one of the reasons that I actually enjoy it. It’s sort of a shoegazer/electronic affair with Cox’s vocals oddly enough reminding me of Chino Moreno from Deftones on a couple of tracks. If you’re looking for something laid back definitely look this one up.

Then there was Cut Copy who is still being played pretty frequently, their new album definitely hasn’t gotten old yet. After that was one of the most exciting things I’ve come across in the last few months, the newest album from French Kicks. I’m honestly going to write an entire separate post about this, but I’ll just say this is gonna’ be in my Top 5 or 10 or whatever of the year, without a doubt.

After that was Headlights again, their new album Some Racing Some Stopping reminds me of Bishop Allen in the fact that all of the songs sound really different but most of them are really awesome. Then comes another thing I was so excited to find, a live recording of Conor Oberst playing brand new material for his upcoming solo album or whatever it’s gonna be. It sounds really promising so hopefully he releases it over the summer.

Belle & Sebastian was tied with Conor for number 5, then Panic at the Disco, who’s new album is so 60’s/70’s influenced it’s kind of fun. It’s not like the last album at all, which I think proves how creative these guys really are and how long they’re probably going to be around. Dirty on Purpose, The New Pornographers and The Beatles round out the rest of the list. I’ve placed some mp3’s of the songs above so you can hear the best of these artists and you just might like ‘em!
