Gloomy Planets by The Notwist

I’ve really been enjoying the same bands for the last couple weeks, so there weren’t any big changes on what I was listening to. French Kicks came out on top yet again, they seriously have one of the very best albums of the year. I know many of you have checked them out, but if you haven’t yet please do so. Then came The Notwist because of their new album, The Devil, You + Me, which my best Swiss friend FW suggested to me. It’s a brilliant little album, not so gloomy as Neon Golden and a little more experimental as well.

After that was Broadcast, I can’t stop listening to Tender Buttons, then Devendra Banhart, Belle and Sebastian and Cut Copy. Grizzly Bear was next, I’ve been listening to their first record Horn of Plenty a lot because I need more music for them but there’s been no word on when their next album is coming out. The end of the list includes Earlimart, Radiohead, and Elliot Smith, all normal faces on my weekly list.

   I’m a huge Grizzly bear fan!! They have two other albums that you have to hear. I think horn of plenty is my least favorite of the three. Check out the “friend e.p.” it has some remixes at the end, one by CSS and another from Band of Horses. And then listen to the “Yellow House” album, it’s my fav of the three.

2. Got a copy of Cut Copy’s In Ghost Colours yesterday. Impressive. I was utterly bored by their first CD so this was a surprise even if Pitchfork told me it’d be great.

3. Evan: Yeah, I’m a big fan too and I have both of those albums as well, I’ve just been listening to their older stuff (which is mostly just Ed) because it’s not as familiar to me as their other stuff is.

   Jason: I don’t read Pitchfork so I don’t know what they say, but I know that album is damn good. I also recently came across the fact that Tim Goldsworthy produced it, and Tim has worked with everyone under the sun.

5. I’m so glad you mention Broadcast. Broadcast is a fanstastic band, ‘Tender Buttons’ is their best album, and don’t forget to check the amazing and rather experimental / instrumental and less-known ‘Microtronics Volume 01: Stereo’, a great mini album…
