Real Life Wall-E

I already know what I want for X-mas this year, and nothing else can possibly compare to it. The video above is a demonstration of a real life, honest to god, Wall-E!!! Seeing the movie is one thing, but being able to interact with a real moving and talking Wall-E would be the best thing ever! I’ve heard recently that Disneyland is starting to create more interactive robots like this that would be controlled by someone standing off to the side of the action. I really hope that Disney puts this little guy out onto the streets of Disneyland, I’d honestly go down there just to see him (and possibly try to ride him, try to stop me, I dare you!).

I want one just so I can parade him through the streets like a new puppy. Cute!

i love how animated the eyes get. I think i’ve watched this video about 10 times just admiring the work they put into that thing. This is like more impressive than what Honda is doing with Asimo or whatever it’s called. I’m guessing the guy in the background with his hand over his crotch is the one controlling the wall e. If so what a small remote for all of that!

My God! I feel like a little girl looking at my next birthday gift. I had the same feelings as when seeing a cute puppy. And when it says its name!!!…

Awesome. This gets better each time I watch it. What an awesome project to have been able to work on.

My money’s on this being CG composite. Either virally from Disney or a show piece from some young gun. Can’t quite put my finger on it, but something just seems off. Probably the fact that nobody else has made a robot that’s as fluid and responsive as Wall-E is in this vid. It also reminds me of the UFO Haiti videos that went around a while back:

I could be wrong, and sort of want to be, because he’s so cute, but I don’t think it’s “real”.
