Carga Bags

I saw these awesome Carga bags and immediately thought to myself, “I need to post these before Jean at Notcot does!” Because, she finds amazing things like this, and I always get jealous. So take that Jean! haha…
Carga is the brainchild of designer Mauro Bianucci, who made the first bag for himself, but then it caught on after one of his clients wanted to order some. The bags are put together by hand in Buenos Aires using construction techniques in unexpected ways. The bags are made of industrial felt, but together with aluminum rivets and a leather strap.

The only downside of these bags is the price, which is a whopping $175, and that’s for the smallest one. But you are paying for something that’s handcrafted, and sure as hell looks like it’s going to last quite a while.

TSHIRT STORE

TSHIRT STORE is exactly what is sounds like, a store that sells t-shirts. The company was founded in 2004 by a group of people longing to make high quality t-shirts that were made under their watchful eyes. That means no outsourcing, no wholesale, just a good fit with great designs that can constantly be updated. Think of them as a cross between American Apparel and Threadless, and you know, Swedish.

They have some really great designs online, the three above were my personal favorites. But I have a feeling after seeing Viktor’s post on his blog Issue that they have even more cool designs in their physical stores. As of now I think they have two stores, but they’re going to be opening a store in the International Airport Kastrup in Copenhagen a little later this year. So if you’re ever flying through, be sure to stop and pick up something.

Travis Millard Wallet by Volcom

Earlier tonight I bought this Travis Millard wallet online at Urban Outfitters. I wouldn’t normally buy something so off the cuff like that, but it was only $14.99! Originally it was $34, but they marked it down over half, so I had to snatch it up. Plus my Girl Skateboards wallet is starting to lose it’s luster, so I think it’s time for a new one. It also has more room, for things like my new business cards!

Jack Spade Fashion Show, Bryant Park

I’m a pretty big fan of the Jack Spade brand. The Jack Spade store is filled with not only stylish bags, but tons of other “stuff” that gives everything a certain atmosphere. And that same sort of feeling was continued to his show this year, which took place outside of the fashion tents, and in the mundane setting of Bryant Park.

Random people were asked to “walk the catwalk”, except that it wasn’t a catwalk, it was the sidewalk, and there were people walking around and going about their business. It’s such a lighthearted and whimsical thing to do, it exemplifies what the brand should feel like. Something for everyone, no matter what.

Totally and unashamedly stolen from Friend & Stranger!

Nixon Modical Collection

Jeff and I went over to Skylight, our local neighborhood bookstore, so that I could check out to see if any new magazines had come out. I was browsing through something, maybe I-D, and I spotted this crazy new collection by Nixon, entitled Modical. It took me a second to figure out, so I’ll point out that it’s a mix of ‘mod‘ and ‘nautical‘, basically edgy sailing wear.
While it’s not something that I would really wear, it’s a pretty rad concept. I do like the black watch to the bottom left quite a lot for it’s aged look and simplicity. Definitely something to check out a the very least.

MYKITA Shop Berlin

Located in the Mitte district in the heart of Berlin, MYKITA is an eyewear brand that’s starting to garner a lot of good buzz in the “design world”. What really caught my eye though, was their amazing space they’ve opened. It’s designed completely minimally, with the only color coming from the glasses that line the walls. I love that the floors and ceiling are white as well, it totally adds to the overall effect. The concept was inspired by the look and philosophy of the MYKITA brand.

Be sure to check out MYKITA’s eyewear collections as well, which is pretty rad in it’s own right.

Arkitip Issue 0041 / KAWS Collab

KAWS is back at it again with another crazy product/collaboration. This time he’s paired up his OriginalFake brand with magazine geniuses Arkitip to create a very special edition of their 41st issue. The coolest part is that the issue comes in a black Incase laptop bag, covered in KAWS skeletons. The not so coolest part is that the issue is $65, but that’s not very much for an amazing magazine and a beautiful laptop bag.

You can purchase the issue directly from Arkitip here.

Philippe Starck’s Veiled Watch

I used to be a big watch fanatic, but then I moved to LA and was embarrassed of getting a bad watch tan. But I previously owned one of Starck’s watches, a solid band of rubber that held a digital face. The rubber was a dark blue color, and most people thought it was simply a bracelet because of it’s sleek silhouette.
Philippe Starck has done it again with his Veiled Watch, available online through Fossil. The watch face itself is hidden under the crystal, which mimics the breaks in the bracelet.
Completely discreet time-telling.

Japanese menswear brand Sophnet has collaborated with American brand Stussy to create some HOT pairs of glasses. I know basically nothing about these, except that they’re only sold in Japan. I love that they used a really subtle camo pattern, it’s way hot.

Colab Eyewear

It’s going to be a glasses sort of night tonight… Colab is a project featuring some really awesome artists/designers getting the chance to design a pair of sunglasses any way they want. They come in runs of 1000, and for around $210.
Seen up above is Geoff McFetridge’s sunglasses (drool is all over the keyboard). The first series also features glasses from Perks and Mini (which look amazing!), Eboy, Rockin*Jellybean, and Naesden Control Centre. They’re all pretty rad actually, so go have a looksy!
