Nike Vandal High Supreme

I’ve subconsciously wanted a pair of high tops for a while, but I always think I’ll look lame in them. They also usually come in insane colorways and styles, and I prefer to wear black vans. But I could see myself looking really cool wearing a pair of these NIke Vandal High Supremes.

What I really like is that the shoe doesn’t look black, it’s almost shades of black and blue. And what it lacks in vibrant colors it makes up for in the ability to see all the details and stitches. Or maybe that’s just the sign of a good product shot, haha… The strap doesn’t even bother me, I think those colors go rad with the body of the shoe. Overall it’s a pretty damn slick looking shoe, which of course is around $170 and is only available in Japan. Awesome.

Kenji Nakayama for Converse (Product) Red

It’s been a while since I’ve spotted a pair of shoes I really like, but when I came across the Kenji Nakayama designed high tops I did a double take. Kenji created the shoe for Converse’s (PRODUCT) RED campaign, which I’m honestly not a huge fan of, considering that only “10% of the net wholesale price” goes to fighting AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria. How much would that even be per shoe, like three or four dollars?!

Anyhow, the design of the shoe has a red stripe around the bottom which is supposed to be a timeline, and all of the vertical lines represent a moment in time. Overall it’s supposed to represent all the tiny moments that make up our lives. I think the shoe is really rad looking, I especially love the colors, and all of those vertical lines are absolutely beautiful. The other cool part is that the shoe is only $56.99, and you can buy it in their online store and have it shipped directly to you. Also be sure to check out all of the other designs as well, as a part of their 1HUND(RED) Project.

Commonwealth x Eames x DC Shoes

File this under “Holy Crap” and “How did no one think of this sooner?!?”. Commonwealth, one of the better online “urban” boutiques has teamed with DC Shoes and fabric makers Maharam to create an Eames patterned shoe called Gatsby. How is this show just being made? Did no one think to put this classic pattern on a shoe? I certainly didn’t, but I don’t make shoes. These bad boys are going to set you back $140, which isn’t too bad, but it’s definitely nearing the price of not worth it.

What else could be done like this? Marimekko patterned slip ons? Splashes of Tjord Boonte patterns all over some high top Chuck’s? I think there could be a crazy market for something like this. Vans? Converse? You listening to this? Hurry up and get us some rad designer shoes(but don’t be assholes and make them like $200).

Nike’s Tiffany Dunk SB Tribute

Two years ago Nike SB released the Tiffany Dunk SB, the creation of Nickavelli over at Diamond Supply Co. The shoe featured the signature Tiffany blue, and crocodile skin, making it one of the hottest shoes of that year.

Now Nike is releasing a variation on the original and calling ti a “tribute”. Thankfully it’s pretty sick, coming in all black leather, a black corc skin swoosh, and a white sole with a black tip. On the inside is a wood grain patter which looks teal, but I think it would have been better to use the Tiffany blue again. Either way it’s a pretty damn slick shoe. This is totally my style, sharp looking, but low key.
This puppy should be out sometime in February, so keep an eye out.

Nike Varsity Pop Up Store

Jeff and I went shopping with our friend Garrett this weekend and he decided that he needed to get a new pair of shoes. So we stopped by the Undefeated on La Brea, seeing as how they carry a pretty good variety of shoes. But as we drove by, we noticed a bunch of skanky looking girls hanging out in front of a brightly colored shop bouncing basketballs and talking on their cellphones. Since this was only a few doors down from Undefeated, we decided to check it out.

It turns out the location is called One Forty Four Lab, and the space is now being occupied by a pop up store collaboration between Undefeated and Nike. Every Wednesday and Saturday the store will be releasing exclusive t-shirts in exclusive colors, as most of these things go. When we went in they had shoes for sale, a DJ playing music, and even food. Upstairs there was a big manga on the wall about some Goku looking guy playing basketball.

My favorite parts were the floor, which looked like an old basketball court, and the shoes were pretty rad as well. They looked like they were from a vintage basketball team. If you have a chance, be sure to check out the store, which should be up until the end of the month.

Vans Vault / Color Theory

Vans Vault has released the line-up for their Spring 2008 collection, and it’s looking pretty rad. It’s called Color Theory, and features a lot of crazy, bold colors and some really cool textures. The top row of shoes (look to me) like the girls blend, and the bottom are the guys. I really like the gray pair on the bottom in the middle. They look pretty fancy, but I bet their amazingly comfy. I also think the shoes on the bottom on the far right are pretty fun, like a material you’d find in a sombrero.

I picked the shoes in the top row because of the awesome colors and patterns, but also because I think my mom would really like them. I bought her a pair of Vans about a year ago and now she loves them. So check ‘em out momma and we’ll get you some of these!

Whitmans by Clae

It’s been a little while since I came across a pair of shoes I really liked, but these new Clae shoes above totally caught my eye. They’re called the Whitman, and look like a kind of modern day wingtip. They’ve got a blend of canvas and leather, and come with a crazy electric blue rubber sole. I love they look modern enough to not get weird looks, but nice enough to wear out to a nice dinner.

They run around $90 and you can use Clae’s retailer locater to see if they’re being sold anywhere near your neighborhood.

Court Victory P GLOW Reeboks

I’ve heard that people like it when I post about sneakers, so I thought I’d throw these guys into the mix. Reebok has created a Tron-tastic high top that really glows in the dark. It’s not too bad looking actually, and you’d definitely get some comments from people when you walked around.
Karmaloop has them for $137 right now, and is available in all sizes. So if you have a sneaker head in the family, or someone who’s obsessed with the 80’s or Tron, this could certainly make someone’s holiday a lot brighter (HAR HAR HAR).

Zuriick Shoes

I remember seeing these awesome shoes by Zuriick a few months back, but they must have slipped my mind because I never ended up posting about them. But I was browsing around on Blackbird when I spotted them again! They’re pretty much your basic slip on, but I like the subtle changes that make them stick out. Above is the charcoal color with blue rubber, but they also make a black with off-white rubber one as well, which is what I would get.

The best part is that they’re only $55, which is pretty dang cheap. But I really don’t need anymore slip-ons, I think I have about 10 pairs at this point…

The Neckface AV Sk8 Low

I just posted about Vans, but here I am doing it again. They’ve teamed up once again with my favorite drawer-of-monsters Neckface to release a brand new show. The colorway is a weird, kind of tomato red, with some sort of ugly bursting out of the grave with hot a pair of shades on. It’s mostly made of leather, and will hopefully be finding it’s way into my hands very soon.
