I just think this image is awesome. For a man who can hardly move a muscle in his body, he looks like he couldn’t be any happier.

Cordyceps Fungus

Cordyceps is a parasitic fungus that invades and eventually replaces the host tissue.Basically, it infects a bugs brain, then grows a branch/stock/mushroom looking dealy out of the bugs head. It takes about 3 weeks to full mature, then the spores burst, infecting any other buggies around. That’s as non-scientific of an explanation as you can get.
Thankfully, humans can’t get infected by cordyceps, haha…
Watch the video, it’s beautiful in it’s creepiness.

T. rex is a Big Chicken

So, this is pretty cool.
Paleontologists recently found a fossil thigh bone of a Tyrannosaurus that was so well preserved that scientists could actually isolate proteins from the sample. By comparing the proteins found in the T. rex to proteins in other animals, scientists were able to see which animal the T. rex’s proteins most closely resemble.
And, tah-frickin’-dah, the protein was almost spot on with that of a chicken, showing “the first molecular evidence of this link between birds and dinosaurs.”

Just something to think about next time you have KFC.

P.S. This is Bob’s nerdy boyfriend, Jeff. Hope you all enjoy the article!
