Feist Performs 1,2,3,4 on Sesame Street

For the premiere of Sesame Street’s 39th season (OMG) Feist will be performing her song 1,2,3,4 except that it’s going to be geared toward kids and counting. I know, I know, the song is totally played out, but it’s so damn cute when it’s on Sesame Street. My favorite part of the whole video is the penguins that are by the door, and then at the end when they sing the bah bah bah bah part, except the chickens are clucking, haha… I think it’s great when contemporary musicians give back to kids like this, I know I’d be super thrilled to hear my son or daughter singing this little song. The episode is set to premiere on August 11th, so if you have kids be sure to plunk them down in front of the TV that day!

Beast with a Billion Backs

My inner nerd is crying tears of pure joy because the new Futurama movie, Beast With A Billion Backs, is out today! I’m a giant Futurama fan (it’s way better than Family Guy, I’m sorry) so it’s so fun that they keep releasing these movies to continue the fun. In this movie an anamoly is discovered out in space, so Professor Farnsworth and the rest of the Planet Express crew go to investigate it, but are blown through space after Bender puts his shiny metal ass in it. Realizing only organic matter can go through, they decided to let Zapp Branigan destroy whatever is in there instead of further studying it. But Fry is able to get on board Zapp’s ship and get through the portal first, discovering a giant tentacle being voiced by David Cross.

I summed this up pretty poorly, but that’s the gist of. Plus you have the video above to show you what I’m trying to say. I’ve also put another video under the cut which shows some more scenes as well as David Cross talking about how he can be such an amazing voice actor. Enjoy.

Keep reading Beast with a Billion Backs…

The last few posts have been very pink today, so I thought I’d continue this trend a little with a post about a fun little site called ColorFlip. There’s really nothing to it, it’s just a site where you “turn a page” from one color to the next. This goes on forever and ever as far as I can tell, but the sounds of the flipping and colors of the screen are pretty rad.

ColorFlip was created by RafaĆ«l Rozendaal, a guy who just makes all sorts of interactive… things. His site has been around since 2001 and since then he’s created over 25 projects which entice you for maybe a minute or so, but I think that’s the fun of it. Be sure to check out ColorFlip and then check out his site to try the other awesome things he’s done.

New ‘This American Life’ Animation by Chris Ware

The new season of This American Life started on May 4th so they had the fabulous Chris Ware create another animated short for an upcoming episode called Every Marriage Is a Courthouse. The episode is mostly about marriages that fall apart, but the story he animates is about a couple who were walking through New York one day when suddenly they see Jackie Onassis waving at the wife. The husband tells the story, then the wife tells the story, but the thing is, in the wife’s version the husband was never there!

Chris’ drawings have never looked better, and seeing them animated again are real treat. Hopefully he creates more of these, like one every episode. They’re so damn enjoyable and pleasing in every way.

David Sedaris and the Joys of Accesories

Just now my co-worker and I were talking about David Sedaris, I don’t remember how we got on the topic, but I asked her if she’d ever heard him talk or speak on camera. She hadn’t so I showed her the video above so she could see just how funny he really is. The clip above is from 2 years ago when he made an appearance on David Letterman, but it’s still hysterical. I just figured this might make some people if they’re having a rough day!

Black is the New President, Bitch

I’m back home from Northern California and I had a really great weekend. While I was up there I had a chance to watch Saturday Night Live which I never get to do because I don’t have cable… or a TV. The episode wasn’t very funny, but the special appearance by Tracy Morgan made the whole thing worthwhile. As of lately SNL has been catching a little flack for being too “Hillary friendly”, so they got Tracy Morgan to even the tide a little bit. I thought what he said was really great, but the very last part had me laughing and jumping out of my seat. Just watch the clip (which might have a commercial before the video, not my fault) and see for yourself.

This Was My Favorite Moment From The Project Runway Finale…

Last night on Project Runway there was a moment where this kid with a big head walks right behind Christian as he’s getting interviewed, and gives him a really strange look… I likened it to a stinkeye. It was totally random, and I made my friends rewind the Tivo so that we could enjoy it again. Who does that kid think he is looking at Christian like that? I think he’s jealous because Christian is a fairy/sprite and he’ll never be with that big ol’ noggin of his. I wish I had video of this, it’s just not as funny without it.

Also, congrats to Christian, he definitely deserved to win last night. His collection was easily the most exciting and cohesive. This was probably my favorite season of Project Runway ever, hopefully they can meet these high standards on the next.

The New SImpsons Intro
September 24, 2007 | Categories:

I can’t say I’ve ever been a huge fan of The Simpsons. I never had anything against it, but it wasn’t something that I marked down in my schedule, either. I watched the movie, and I actually found it pretty entertaining, though I can’t say I would have paid to see it. But I really started to respect the Simpsons franchise after they converted all of those 7-11’s into Kwik-E-Marts. That was in fact, a stroke of marketing genius.

The new season started yesterday, and with it, new intro aired, showing the doomed and destroyed Springfield we saw in the movie (sorry to those who haven’t seen the movie yet). I really hoped by seeing that intro, that the residents of Springfield would have to start rebuilding the town, and that there might actually be ramifications from the movie! But after reading the episode guide, I don’t think that’s true at all.

Wouldn’t it be cool to have an epic storyline in The Simpsons a la Lost?! Think of how many people would tune in for something like that! It might just make The Simpsons cool again!

Britney Spears VMA 2007 Performance Video
September 9, 2007 | Categories:
Music / Television

This is something that TOTALLY doesn’t belong in my blog, but I was so curious to find this so I has to post it! Here’s Britney’s performance from the MTV Video Music Awards from earlier tonight, and I have a few thoughts about it.

First, I’ll go with the positives. I thought the song was good. It was pretty damn catchy, and the production sounded really awesome. I loved all the layering to it, so props for that. As long as she doesn’t drop her two kids or come out with lesbian porn tape anytime soon, the song should be a hit.
Okay, now I only have bad things to say, haha. She looked REALLLLLYYYYY bad, man, oh man. It wasn’t really her body that I thought was gross, she has a normal (read: none pop star) figure, it was her dancing! She looked out of breath, and like she wasn’t even trying! And I loved that needed help getting on and off the stage, haha.
Then there were the ’strippers’ on the tables dancing for the stars, and at the end when they cameras were desperately looking for someone who enjoyed her performance… yikes.

Okay, no more crappy posts like this, I promise! Back to awesome illustrators and designers and shoes!
