The Office Preview: Summer’s Over!
August 30, 2007 | Categories: Television
Oh man! Jeff just sent me this, a preview to the new season of The Office. In it, the characters talk about how their summers were.
Let’s just say that some people had a good summer, and some people were left crying next to a fountain in the middle of New York… hahahaha!
And Pam is looking hot, with her low(er) cut sweater!

Kid Nation

I need to get cable in my apartment, purely to watch this show. Damn you CBS.
Kid Nation is about 40 kids from the ages of 8 to 15, are taken to an old ghost town in the middle of New Mexico, and forced to work and live in a community for 40 days. No one is kicked off each episode. Instead, one kid per episode is awarded a solid gold star, worth approximately $20,000.
Why the hell wasn’t this around when I was kid?? I would totally rule that place with an iron fist. It would be like The Quick and the Dead, and I would totally be bad-ass Gene Hackman.
At any rate, it looks like it’s going to be a lot of fun to watch. And with 40 kids, everyone is going to be able to relate to this show. Not to mention the potential future of a project like this, and all the other places you can throw kids to survive on their own… this is gonna be big.

In his own words:
“One of the problems with our show from the start has been that whenever we try to describe it in a sentence or two, it sounds awful. For instance: Each week we choose a theme and put together different kinds of stories on that theme. That doesn’t sound like something we’d want to listen to on the radio, and it’s our show.”
The truth is, it’s always interesting, and you always find yourself laughing or smiling or crying. I think when you have truly interesting individuals creating something that they’re honestly interested in, you end up with something amazing. Mostly, the show is about people. It’s like when you’re sitting at the mall watching everyone going by, except you get to hear the ins and outs of everyone’s odd little lives.
His show is so good in fact, that it’s becoming it’s own TV show on Showtime. Chris Ware, one of the most talented illustrator/designers out there, has animated a short segment for it. It’s about a kid who makes a movie camera out of a cardboard box and toilet paper rolls at school, which ends up starting a trend of everyone having their own camera. But the kids end up losing themselves behind their cameras, and well… just watch it yourself.
