What’s To Come Hasn’t Come Yet | A Kitsune Noir Mixtape
December 25, 2009 // Kitsune Noir Mixtape

Merry X-Mas, I hope you’re having a nice holiday or are happy doing whatever you may do. I decided that my present to you this year would be a shiny new Mixtape called What’s To Come Hasn’t Come Yet.
This mix is filled with song that remind me of winter, or the idea of winter. I wanted something soft and beautiful to listen to, so I put together this little collection of songs that make me think of snow and peaceful things. The main theme of the songs is a lot of acoustic guitars as well as pianos, which flow throughout most of them.
I think this turned out pretty well, though the Andrew Bird song is called Master Sigh not Sign, but I’ll fix that on Monday. I hope you enjoy this and have a wonderful holiday and a happy new year.

We Never Heard Its Noise | A Kitsune Noir Mixtape
October 28, 2009 // Kitsune Noir Mixtape

Last week I said I wouldn’t be making a Mixtape for Halloween. Well, I kind of lied. As I started to think about it, I realized that while I couldn’t make an epic Halloween dance mix like Punchy did with Hellaween, I figured I could make something creepy as hell.
The following mix is one of the weirdest and most complex things I’ve ever made. Usually when I make a mix I have about 12 to 15 tracks, sometimes throwing in some extra sounds here and there. This time around I used 55 to 60. The entire mix is filled with all sorts of weird sounds, strange and disturbing song transitions and a ton of great music to get really creeped out by.
This isn’t going to be everyone’s favorite Mixtape, but I hope you can appreciate what I was trying to do with it. Just as a heads up, the transition between Sébastian Tellier and Smashing Pumpkins is pretty loud and creepy and scary, but for some reason I think it’s absolutely amazing. So please enjoy and let me know what you think, and maybe even play it during your goth Halloween party!
I also wanted to mention that the artwork on the cover is by my BFF and roommate Garrett Vander Leun. He yet again hooked me up with some seriously amazing art to work with. I’ve put his original artwork under the cut and some of the steps I went through to get to the final cover.
Here’s the track listing:
01 Silent Woods by Husky Rescue
02 If I Had A Heart by Fever Ray
03 Sheena Is a Parasite by The Horrors

Nothing You Can Touch | A Kitsune Noir Mixtape
October 2, 2009 // Kitsune Noir Mixtape

It’s been a little over a month since the last mixtape, so I think you’re due for a new one. There won’t be a Mixcast this week, just this here Mixtape. It’s called Nothing You Can Touch, a Mixtape inspired by John Huges movies from the 80’s… but with a modern slant. Every song on here is from the last few years, if not brand new. But all of the songs definitely have an 80’s feel and vibe to them. Got it?
I was really inspired after seeing The Breakfast Club last month, and realized that I knew quite a few 80’s sounding songs, starting with Phoenix’s Girlfriend. From there I grabbed Bats for Lashes’ Daniel, of course Graveyard Girl by M83, and it just went from there. This is also one of the peppiest mixes I’ve ever made. Most of the time I make more somber Mixtapes (like the next one will be, it’s already ready to go).
Enjoy the mix, enjoy the last few warm days of the year, and I’ll be back with a new Mixcast next week and a new mixtape next month.
Here’s the track listing:
01 I Think I’ll Start A Fire by Faunts
02 Tree Frog by Daestro
03 Graveyard Girl by M83
04 Girlfriend by Phoenix
05 I Don’t Need Love, I’ve Got My Band by The Radio Dept.
06 Daniel by Bat for Lashes
07 Testament by Flying Lotus
08 Tell Me What To Swallow by Crystal Castles
09 Summertime by Girls
10 I Want You! by Peter Bjorn & John
11 Eyes As Candles by Passion Pit
12 Pretty in Pink by The National

As Long As It’s With Me | A Kitsune Noir Mixtape
August 21, 2009 // Kitsune Noir Mixtape

Well, today is my 27th birthday, so I thought I’d give you all a present, a summer mixtape I’ve made. This quite honestly might be one of my all time favorite mixtapes that I’ve made. It’s really laid back mix, filled with songs to help you enjoy the rest of summer. The total length is about 45 minutes, so it should be able to keep you busy for quite a while. I suggest listening to it while you work, driving at sunset, and when you’re cuddling with your lover.
I think the ending might be my favorite part. Once you hit James by Camera Obscura prepare to start crying, haha… It’s not that bad, but I definitely hit the nail on the head with it, I think. I hope you all enjoy it and be sure to tell your friends.
Here’s the track listing:
01 Little Garçon by Born Ruffians
02 C & O Canal by John Vanderslice

I’ll Carry You On | A Kitsune Noir Mixtape
July 29, 2009 // Kitsune Noir Mixtape

Well we’re definitely in the throes of summer here in the northern hemisphere, so I thought another mixtape may get everyone excited and the hot weather off their minds. This is kind of the first part of a summer mixtape called I’ll Carry You On, while the second part will be released in about a month or so. This mix has been kicking around for a little bit now, it was originally inspired by a side project of mine that I felt needed some music.
It doesn’t really have a theme, but I feel like it flows together rather well. The songs are new and old, not quite as up to date as the other summer mix is, but this should still make your head bounce. I’d also like to suggest that you listen to this one with headphones on. There are lots of rich sounds in these songs, and even some things I’ve added in myself here and there. I hope you like it and be ready for another mix to drop on August 21st, which is my birthday, so it’s like a birthday present to all of you for being such awesome readers.
I also have a new project that I think I’ll be releasing on Friday that’s related to the mixtapes but an entirely new endeavor altogether. Keep your eyes peeled!
