The Desktop Wallpaper Project by Alex Cornell
November 4, 2009 // The Desktop Wallpaper Project

I’m so excited for this week’s Desktop Wallpaper Project artist that I’m currently writing this at 4:15 AM my time, that says something, right? The man’s name is Alex Cornell. He’s a design student living in San Francisco and he’s also a blogger over on ISO50 as well. Alex is such a talented guy that it’s kind of gross. You may have seen his work before, he did that awesome Wes Andersen Film Festival project a little while ago… oh yeah, and he’s a singer/songwriter. Like I said, annoying.
For his wallpaper he’s created this really simple and beautiful design with a simple message. I’ve had this as my wallpaper for a while now, it’s really easy to work with, especially if you handle graphics all day long. Simple, elegant, beautiful.

Wow! This is beautiful! It’s been a great few months for the DWP!

I love this – a perfect blend of ISO50, Mark Weaver and 2001: A Space Odyssey. Thanks Alex!

Amazing! I totally love it, immediately made it my background. This has to be one of my top favourites so far.

This one its just amazing, I still have the Steven Harrington’s wallpaper, the one with the semi-desert landscape with a nice hippie-ish b&w drawing, but this one goes inmediately to replace it. This one kinda remains me Flash Gordon, I dunno why but it does, maybe thats why I’m loving it so much!

This is pretty nice. Alex has a nice site as well.

I love the Desktop Wallpaper Project, but my 24″ monitor at work has a 16:9 aspect ratio with a resolution of 1920×1080. The 1920×1200 wallpaper size only works if I chop-off a bunch of the image.
Do I have a non-standard screen resolution? Can 1920×1080 be added to the standard download options?
Comment by Ryan — November 5, 2009 #
Wow, beautiful.
Comment by Robert — November 5, 2009 #
@Ryan – Yeah, unfortunately you are, or at least as far as KN readers go. I checked my Google Analytics and 1920×1080 browsers make up 0.75% of screen resolutions. Sorry about that!

I LOVE this one. One of my faves in awhile, but it just keeps bugging me that he didn’t end the statement with a question mark.
