Soil Cutlery by Vladimir Rachev

Vladimir Rachev is a 27 year old designer who was born in Bulgaria but has been living and designing in the UK. He created a set of silverware that really caught my eye that he calls Soil Cutlery. This set of silverware was designed to look like gardening tools, the very instruments that helped people cultivate food for the last few thousands of years. In his own words, “Food is more and more produced in artificial environments. In future we might need a reminder of the cultivation origins.”
My gut reaction is that these are just beautiful. I love the black and white versions though the polished steel ones are nice as well. Mr. Rachev did a wonderful job of bridging the gap between cutlery and farm tools, just the right balance of elements from both.

Cool cutlery, really like the black ones, the fork really resembles a hay fork.
I think the spoon could have been a little bit more square, but that’s just me.
