Audi-O Concept Car

It’s been a while since I’ve seen a car that got me flustered so it was nice to come across this awesome idea. The car is called the Audi-O and was created by designer Odrej Jirec. The car looks pretty futuristic, but not so far that it would be impossible to see on the road in the next 10 years. The car is really simple in it’s form, inspired by Apple products (no surprise there), but offers some exciting curves that would definitely turn some heads. The LED headlights are pretty rad, though my absolute favorite is the back, which is a beautiful piece of glass framed by red tail lights.

But really the point of the car is it’s amazing sound system, which would be able to connect to other cars like it via bluetooth, allowing you to have one big ass speaker party. Not only that, but the Audi-O also comes equipped with a set of turntables for all those bootleg DJ gigs you throw… right. Anyhow, it’s a beautiful idea executed extremely well, and thankfully Odrej is heading to Art Center and hopefully will have the chance to turn these ideas into reality! Feed Cycling Project’s More Bike Less Car Campaign

As I get more and more into bikes I start to feel guilty that I’m not posting about art or design instead, the bread and butter of +KN. So thankfully I came across something that covers both of those needs! The images above are from an amazing guerilla poster campaign by the folks over at nabiis, which I think is a big bike crew over in Taipei, Taiwan. The project, called Feed Cycling Project, consists of these gorgeously minimal black and white posters featuring some amazingly beautiful photos of bike parts. They then wheat pasted these all over the place, I’m guessing Taipei, to hopefully get people to stop and think about making a change. I personally would just love to own all of these posters, I’ve been drooling over these for days now.

I’d also like to mention that I found this through Something Rotten, the love child of Aaron Bateman, who does a really good great job, so pay him a visit! I’ve also put some more images of the posters under the cut, so check under there as well!

The Guv’nor by Pashley

Oh, man. Here I am again, posting about some ridiculously expensive bike that I couldn’t even buy if I had the money because it’s made in another country. This also stems into my building obsession with bikes, which I’ve now decided is what I really want for my birthday, though it won’t be anything quite like this. The bike you see above is the Guv’nor by Pashley, and I have a really big crush on it.

The Guv’nor harkens back to old school British bikes, being both elegant and comfortable at the same time. I just think it looks beautiful, with it’s black frame, black alloy rims and cream-colored tires, and a titanium seat that looks like old leather. The Guv’nor also comes in six different models, single speed and 3-speed versions in three different sizes. I’m guessing this bike would be awesome to ride, the company that makes them, Pashley, has been around since 1926, so I’m pretty sure they have a good idea of what they’re doing. But sadly, the Guv’nor runs a sweet £795.00, or almost $1600 for those of us here stateside, which means there’s no way Bobby will ever own one of these. That’s okay, I’ll just buy a cheap bike and make it look exactly the same!

Icare Motorcycle

Maybe I’m still on an awesome motorcycle kick from The Dark Knight, but I saw this Icare prototype by the folks over at Enzyme and nearly wet myself. The Icare looks something like Kanada’s bike from Akira but stolen and appropriated by Batman, and I absolutely love it. There seem to be two versions as well, the one in the top photo, and then the two below it. I’m slightly in love with the top version and it’s uni-light, something about that makes my heart flutter.

The bike is designed to use a six-cylinder 1.8 liter Honda engine, which I guess should give you some pretty decent power. I just think it would be awesome to tear around town on one of these, people would totally think you’re some kind of super hero. But as usual this is still just a prototype, and I’m sure when it comes out it’ll cost a pretty penny, but it’s always nice to look, right?

Freeman Bikes

So this one might not fall under fashion, but in my brain this is a natural progression. Lately I’ve really been wanting to get a bike, especially with gas being as high it is and not having a job, a bike would be a mighty helpful thing to own. Seeing the bikes that Freeman are putting together then is making me drool with lust. Hand built in Missoula, Montana, these bikes aren’t just any ordinary fixed gear bike, this bike can be taken apart with one simple tool and folded into a bag. Basically the frame breaks in half, allowing you to then take all of the pieces and neatly put them away.

I think this is a really rad idea, especially for people who travel a lot and want their bike with them. Plus look at that bag! It’s totally rad! Hopefully over the next few years bikes will continue on this innovative path, especially with recent economic developments. If more people start riding bikes, it can only help things.

BMW’s Kinetic Sculpture by ART+COM

Good morning everyone, I hope you all had an awesome weekend. I had a really long, fun weekend, which culminated last night with two parties and way too much tequila, so I’m going to start out today with something amazing, but simple.

The video above was taken at the BMW Museum in Munich, which just opened a few weeks ago, of a kinetic sculpture created by the folks over at ART+COM. The kinetic sculpture is made up of 714 metal balls that “moves through a cycle of free abstractions and typical BMW vehicle forms.” It takes about a minute before the crazy stuff starts happening, but once it does it’s pretty damn incredible. I love that the metal balls can go from totally random, to undulating waves, to the shape of a car, that’s just insane to me. I also love how flawlessly fluid it all moves, it’s completely surreal. I watched the video while listening to Lonely Souls by UNKLE, it made for a fitting soundtrack.

Kronan’s American Online Store is Open

I can’t remember where I saw my first Kronan, I want to say it was a catalog that was photographed really well by someone, but since then I’ve wanted one. The biggest problem was that they had no stores in the US and you couldn’t order them online… until today. Kronan is a Swedish company who’s been making bikes since the 1940’s, so they know what they’re doing. But these have been updated will all the bells and whistles of modern day bikes, so you get that old fashioned style mixed with modern technology.

I just think they look damn sexy. I haven’t ridden a bike in years, but these make me want one sooo bad. I’d even face Los Angeles traffic if I had one of these (I’m lying, I would ride it on the sidewalk). I also really like the colors they have, including the ultra sexy creme in the photo above, but also black, red, green and blue. They also come in different styles as well, depending upon you and what you like. They have a men’s and women’s 3-Speed, a men’s and women’s single speed, and an aluminum, unisex 5-speed. So whatever style you like, they’ve got it. But of course, something so awesome doesn’t come cheap, so you’re looking at $500 to $700 depending upon the model you want.

I think these bikes would be worth every penny, they’ve got a beautiful classic style and they look as sturdy as can be. Just go visit the site and fall in love like I did.

Citroën C-Cactus Concept

I don’t think there could be anymore C’s in the title of this post, haha…
Anyhow, the images above are one of Citroën’s new concept vehicles (yes, I’m teasing with another concept car) dubbed the C-Cactus. Physically it reminds me of cross between a Mini and Volkswagen’s Touareg, but sent from the future.

My absolute favorite part is the huge windows. When I was a little kid I used to draw cars that were basically bubbles so you could see in all directions. This is basically what my 8 year old self would have wanted. I also really like the details in the head and tail lights, and the metallic doors are pretty rad as well. The car is also designed as a hybrid, with a diesel and an electric engine to help with gas mileage. When you’re in the city, you can switch the car into ZEV mode (Zero Emission Vehicle) which relies purely on the electric motor, I’m guessing getting recharged during the times you brake.

Problem Playground Commercial by Honda

Wieden + Kennedy have made yet another awesome Honda commercial, this time with a brainy edge to it. In the ad you follow a big group of people, a lot of them wearing lab coats, all of them looking rather smart, as they figure out puzzles, both big and small. The creativity of this commercial is pretty astounding, especially the giant Rubic’s Cube murals, and the car at the end. The sound editing is also really great, and you feel like you’re caught up in the fun as you watch.

Monument Snowboards

In the entry below I wrote about a bike I really love, but I don’t know anything about them. The same could definitely said about snowboards and snowboarding in general, which I hate because I fall on my ass too much. But I can definitely tell you if the graphics on the board are rad or not.
Monument Snowboards is an East Coast company who’s teamed up with some pretty rad artists for their 2007/2008 boards, and they turned out pretty well.

The designs you see above are by The Graves and Maya Hayuk, respectively, who are joined by J. Penry, Donny Miller, Peter Beste, East River Drive, and Sandro/Koop. The boards go for about $500 a piece, which may or may not be cheap, I have no idea. But I’d say that having one of these boards would make you cooler than all the other bros out on the mountain.
